Professor and Chair of Mining and the Environment. Dirk has more than 40 years’ experience in research, teaching and consulting in tailings and mine rock structures. In the past decade much of his attention has focused on mining and sustainable development.

The 3rd Annual Mine Water Solutions 2018 Conference which was held at the University of British Columbia, June 12-15, 2018 with over 300 delegates from 25 countries in attendance. It was the third in an innovative conference series that aims to examine a wide range of issues associated with mine water management.
