Dr. Rachel Germain is an associate professor in the Dept. of Zoology and member of the Biodiversity Research Centre. Her lab studies the ecological and evolutionary processes that act to maintain biodiverse ecosystems. Aside from research and teaching, she specializes in event organization, including workshops, working groups, panel discussions, symposia, and recently, as chair of the Canadian Society of Ecology and Evolution hosted here at UBC.

The Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution (CSEE) is a non-partisan group of practicing ecologists and evolutionary biologists throughout Canada. CSEE 2024 aimed to provide a fun and welcoming community-oriented vibe, a diversity of innovative and affordable field trips and workshops, and a killer scientific program highlighting the scientific breadth of researchers across Canada.
